Overview
University Child Development School (UCDS) located in Seattle, Washington is an independent school serving 390+ Infant/Toddler, Early Elementary (Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten) and Elementary (1st through 5th grade) students. In addition, the UCDS education institution comprises the UCDS Graduate School of Education. UCDS uniquely serves to prepare teachers, educate children, and develop innovations in curriculum and teaching. UCDS’s unique design as a place where both teachers and children learn, where early-career teachers develop their practice, and where experienced teachers research and design curriculum, gives rise to its innovation. The Master of Education program is the evolution of UCDS’ deep history of developing and supporting exceptional educators.
Job Summary
The Admission Assistant is an integral member of the Admission department, providing support for all initiatives related to the student recruitment and enrollment process. The person in this role will support logistics and administrative details, and must exhibit excellent interpersonal, organizational, collaborative, and communication skills. The Admission Assistant is a full-time, 12-month position, reporting to the Director of Enrollment Management & Outreach and the Assistant Director of Admission.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary support staff member for the Admission department and offer administrative support to all team members.
- Support technical aspects of the admission process and databases (e.g. electronic file system, admissions correspondence, filing, mailings, etc.)
- Represent the school to prospective families through timely, thoughtful, and individualized communication as they navigate the Admission process.
- Support the Admission department with planning and execution of parent/guardian tours, student visits, parent/guardian interviews, and execution of Admission events, which include occasional evening and weekend commitments.
- Public speaking and engagement at recruitment fairs.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Cover the front offices, as needed. Coverage includes supporting student and faculty needs while managing the phone system and door security.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education &/or Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of school processes and procedures.
- Familiarity with Veracross, Ravenna, or similar school databases.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills: Ability to interact effectively with students, staff, current parents/guardians, and the public.
- Organized, detail-oriented, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously under varying deadlines.
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with all members of the community.
- Possess a strong work ethic and willingness to go above and beyond to support the mission of the institution.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Admission Assistant has no direct reports.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $62,000-67,000 depending on degree/experience.
