Special Programs Manager

The Special Programs Manager is a full-time position that supervises the Extended Day Program (EDP), a supportive after-school and off-school-hours environment that provides preschool through 5th-grade students with engaging social, creative, and recreational opportunities. 

Reports to: Director of Special Programs

Responsibilities

  • Assists in managing all aspects of the EDP; assumes the duties of the Director of Special Programs in their absence.
  • Assists and provides daily oversight and support for EDP teachers/staff
  • Liaises with the Director of Learning Support, classroom teachers, and other UCDS faculty/staff members to ensure that all students’ needs are met. 
  • Lunch responsibilities include helping to communicate and support the food service program. Training teachers and residents on how to run the lunch room. Fill in if needed for lunch and recess duties.
  • Coordinates planning, creates schedules, and facilitates regular meetings of EDP teachers to evaluate, develop, and implement instruction that reflects the school’s vision.
  • Maintains consistent expectations of the students and staff per the UCDS Constitution of respecting oneself, others, and the environment.
  • Serves as point of contact for parents and guardians for matters relating to the Extended Day Program. 
  • Communicates with parents/guardians and families regularly. 
  • Procures snacks for EDP and orders supplies for backup lunches. 
  • Co-creates and completes other projects as assigned by the Director of Special Programs.

Experience & Professional Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • At least three years of experience supervising children in a school or youth-serving organization is required.
  • Knowledge of the cognitive and emotional development of children ranging from 3 to 12 years of age is required.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR required (or willingness to be certified as soon as possible).
  • Ability to adhere to all vaccine requirements, per Washington state.

  • Flexible and committed to the well-being of the students

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • The Special Programs Manager oversees a part-time staff of up to 15.

Compensation & Benefits

  • This is a salaried position with compensation starting at $58,000 based on education and experience.
  • This position is full-time, year-round with paid time off.
