SOLD OUT! Sparklers Day Camp caters to our younger adventurers, ages three to five, providing them with a wide variety of fun and engaging activities. We will explore all sorts of exciting subject matter, both on-campus and during planned field trips, encouraging campers to discover new things about themselves and the world around them. Our experienced staff, small group ratio and safe environment make this the ideal place for your young adventurer to spend their summer days! Sparklers Day Camp runs for seven weeks, from June 23 through August 8. Camp hours are 9:00am to 2:30pm with extended care available in the mornings and afternoons.

For kids 6-12 Years Old

Are you creative? enthusiastic? and have varied interests? Then the UCDS Summer Spark Series is for you! Spark Series is a collection of seven week-long, focused camps for kids between the ages of six and 12 (note—some camps do have age limitations). Take a look at all the options—we are sure you'll find the perfect way to spend your summer!

Come kick it around with Erin this summer! Erin has been a soccer player most of her life. She grew up playing soccer in the Seattle area and played at the collegiate level. UCDS Soccer Camp will focus on building basic technical skills, large group tactics, and will be filled with soccer fun in the sun!

Ultimate Frisbee, June 23-27
Come join UCDS’ Special Programs Director, Chad Randol, for an amazing week of Ultimate Frisbee. Chad has played Ultimate competitively for over 11 years and can’t wait to share is passion with the next generation. The young athletes in this camp will learn about the wonderful game of Ultimate, actively practice sportsmanship, play actual games, but most of all have FUN! Each Camper will also get their own Ultimate Frisbee and athletic t-shirt!

Dance and Cheerleading Camp, June 23-27
A week chock-full of dance and cheer! Fiona has been dancing nearly her entire life! She is an expert in modern, jazz, ballet, and lyrical styles of dance. Campers will have fun learning new moves and musical interpretation.
In the cheerleading side of the week, Kelsey will focus on voice projection, basic chants and cheers, synchronized choreography, and safe, basic stunting. No experience necessary!

Lego Robotics, June 30–July 3
Spend a week learning about and experimenting with the programmable RCX unit and the latest programming software. This workshop is designed for teachers, students and interested adults. Preview and explore a wide variety of teaching materials including the Robolab starter set, Amusement Park, Cities and Transportation, Intelligent House, Simple Machines, Manufacturing Systems, Energy Labs, Pneumatics I & II, and a wide variety of Lego related web resources, CD’s, books and publications. Students, this is your chance to show the teachers what you already know about Legos and challenge yourselves to learn even more.

Photography, June 30–July 3
This camp is going to focus on setting up basic composition of photographs. We will explore candid photos, portraits and nature photography. Students will work in a darkroom, learning how to develop their own negatives and prints. They will also take digital pictures while learning to use Photoshop. There will be field trips to downtown one day, and a walking field trip around the U-District.

A full week of scientific investigations and discovery! Participate in hands-on experiments both in the science lab and in the field. We'll form hypotheses and test them, exploring topics in biology, geology, and physics.

Adventure Chess Camp, July 14-18
During this fun week of summer UCDS Special Programs Director Chad Randol will lead students to destinations of their choice to play chess. Each camper will get their own traveling chess set! We will hire a bus for the week, pick some cool place to go each day to play chess, explore, and enjoy summer. This is a noncompetitive camp catered to beginning or recreational chess players. We are going to fuse the game of chess into the outdoors of the Puget Sound. No previous chess experience required.

You know them from EDP and the Tower front desk, but this summer you can spend time with Hannah Hoose and Angie Manning Goodwill learning some theatre improvisation games, honing your acting skills, and even learning a song and dance or two. This week of stage craft and hamming it up will culminate in a short showcase for parents and other campers to enjoy.

Storytelling Camp, July 21-25
Some things never go out of style and shouldn’t. Storytelling, theater-games, drama, art-making, and mask-making are some of the things that will always inspire us. Bring your lively imagination to a week of learning the art of telling tales and transforming them into original and exciting group performances. You will sharpen your skills in dramatics, create giant masks for all kinds of characters and animals, and participate in a lively story-theater troupe.

This is the camp that highlights the true enjoyment of summer. Campers will join UCDS Summer Spark Series Director Chad Randol and friends to explore the area in and around our beautiful city of Seattle. We will hire our very own Magic School Bus for transportation, travel to parks for free play and other activities, go on hikes, swim at different beaches, and eat ice cream! There will be a field trip every day!

Do you want to extend your child's day at camp with before or after care? Our Extended Day Program (EDP) is for you! EDP is divided into morning and afternoon programs; morning EDP will start your child's day at 7:30 am, and evening EDP will extend it until 6 pm. EDP is $40 per week for each morning or afternoon session, but if you register for both morning and afternoon sessions, we'll give you a break! The charge for both combined is only $60 per week.
