Auction Recap

It was a fun and casual Surfin Safari party, with lots of palm trees, board shorts, pooka shells and fake tans (well it was March in Seattle)! But once the bidding commenced, that was when the party really got started!

On behalf of our UCDS families and staff and faculty, I would like to thank you for your extraordinary support of our Auction this year. We had record attendance, frenzy-like enthusiasm, and an exceptional outpouring of support for the school.

The unbridled enthusiasm and unprecedented financial success is really due to two things: 1) We were funding "people" (our teachers and families) instead of "things", and 2) our Match Team - the 4 families who agreed to provide an incentive match at the event. The energy that was created by the matches this year inspired our community to stretch, and stretch big. We are all stunned at the success, and humbled by the community's support of our programs, our Teachers and our Financial Aid program. In the end the Auction raised over $700,000, giving us an important jump start on our 5-year plan to raise teacher compensation and build our Financial Aid program.
