The Map of our Journey

 

This is a map of the journey Lewis and Clark took. Also on this page will be pictures of various things showing up over the weeks.

Council Bluff August 3,1804. Meeting with Missouri and Oto Indians.
1 = Camp Wood,winter of 1803-04
At camp wood, the captains selected and disciplined their men.

2 = St.Louis
St. Louis was the largest city in the western U.S. at the time. So it was a good place to get supplies for the journey.

3 = St.Charles
St. Charles was their last stop before they went out into the wild.

4 = Sergent Floyd's grave
Floyd's grave is where Floyd died and where Floyd was buried.

5 = Fort Mandan,winter of 1804-05

6 = Great Falls of the Missouri. They stoped here to doctor the sick and prepare for the 18 mile portage ahead

7 = Three forks they took only one of the three forks.

8 = Lemhi Pass The river they took before the Rockies.

9 = Travelers Rest Where they expected to find stock pile meat.

10 = Lolo pass The path they used to cross the Rockies.

11 = Canoe Camp The camp they used with the Nez Perce Indians.

12 = Celio Falls It was a one day portage.

13 = Long & Short Narrows One is long and one is short.

14 = Cape Disappointment It was a trickster ocean.

15 = Fort Clatsop winter of 1805-1806

16 = Mairas River (loop) Lewis named the Marias River after his cousin Maria Wood.

17 = Pompey's Pillar It was named after Pomp.
